In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth" (Matthew 5:13). Salt permeates everything it touches. Put a little of it in to a glass of water and all the water becomes salty. So it is with the Gospel of Jesus. It is not something added to life. It permeates all of it; social life, business life, political life, church life-every part of it. We try to shut the door against the entrance of Christianity only to find Jesus at last standing in our midst, looking steadily into our eyes and hearts and minds. Then we realize that all of life is judged by his presence. Remember: Jesus came not to make life easy but to make us equal to life. Today, make a difference in the life of at least one person...affirmation, encouragement, comfort, hope. Salty Christians...I love that!

Prayer: Loving God, help us to see the rainbow sign, the arch of your promise over our lives. Help us to trust that amid all floods, all problems, you will guide us to the shores of your kingdom. Thank you, God. In Jesus' name. Amen. |
