David Letterman made it popular - the Top Ten List. However, the truth is that Top Ten Lists have been with us a long, long time. The first and best is recorded in the book of Exodus. It's called The Ten Commandments. Here is a Top Ten List for today's faith journey in the year 2010:
10.Remember that it's best to celebrate life with a sense of gratitude.
9. Remember that a sense of humor is not excess baggage.
8. Remember that the Bible, the Manufacturer's Handbook is your best road map and your best instruction manual.
7. Remember that prayer means friendship with God and that friendship works best when friends keep in touch.
6. Remember that no matter what obstacle may confront you, with the help of God you can rise above it.
5. Remember to stop and smell the roses.
4. Remember that as you encounter the detours and hard knocks of life, you have a choice; you can get bitter, or you can get better!
3. Remember as you travel to love unconditionally, to forgive unreservedly, and to serve unselfishly.
2. Remember to keep your battery charged by staying plugged into the power source.
1. Remember to be careful as you travel, because you are of great value - you must be - because Christ came and lived and died and rose again for you.
Prayer: What Jesus said to his disciples long ago, he is saying to us today - go out into all the world and be my church. Be a light to the world. Proclaim the good news, gossip the Gospel with a TA-DA! and perform the miracle of encouragement. Go, and I will be with you always. Through the amazing grace of Jesus. Amen. |
