Friend of Dial Hope, disappointment is a fact of living. The storm of heartache comes to all of us. As J. Wallace Hamilton once said, "Every person's life is a diary in which he or she means to write one story and is forced to write yet another."
Milton went blind; Beethoven lost his hearing; Pasteur became a paralytic; Helen Keller was deaf, blind and unable to speak. The apostle Paul wanted to take the church to Spain, but instead went to a prison cell in Rome; and Jesus went to a cross. But were they defeated by these disappointments? Absolutely not! They all bounced back and turned their disappointments into victories. With the help of God, each of us can do that too. Indeed, this spirit of the Christian; it's the spirit of resilience. Through faith in Christ, we too can bounce back. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, remember...God loves you and God is with you.
Prayer: Let us Pray, God of Abraham, Sarah, Moses and Jesus, and our God, too; we join the procession of those who down through the ages have sought to serve and love you with heart, soul, mind, and strength. Forgive us for the times when we have turned our backs on the example of Jesus. Melt us, mold us, fill us, use us so that we may meet our disappointments with the resilience of Christ. In his name, we pray. Amen. |
